  • RO DBT is an evidence-based treatment for individuals who cope with their emotions by exercising excessive self-control. We use RO DBT to treat clients of all ages and their families who struggle with disorders of overcontrol, inclusive of anorexia nervosa, treatment resistant anxiety or depression, autism spectrum disorders, and obsessive-compulsive, avoidant, and dependent personality traits. Typical RO DBT treatment consists of both individual therapy and skills class, in which overcontrolled individuals learn together in a supportive environment. Our goal with individual RO DBT therapy is to work with patients on attaining psychological health by targeting the following general areas in an individual and group format:

    • Increasing flexibility to one’s ever changing environment

    • Increasing receptivity and openness to learning from others

    • Increasing connectedness and deepening of relationships with others and oneself

  • DBT is an evidence-based treatment for individuals who struggle with regulating and tolerating their emotions. We use DBT to treat clients who tend to feel their emotions intensely and react to their urges impulsively. Typical DBT treatment consists of both individual and group therapy, in which DBT candidates (and at times, their families) learn together in a supportive environment. Our goal with DBT therapy is to work with patients on increasing adaptive coping strategies and emotional control by targeting the following general areas in an individual and group format:

    • Increasing mindfulness strategies including awareness of thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and actions, to promote effective responses in these areas

    • Providing alternative solutions to black and white approaches to thoughts and behaviors

    • How to build, strengthen and maintain positive relationships with yourself and others

    • Increasing acknowledgment of patients’ pain and life struggles with the goal of enhancing trust, and promotion of eventual behavior change

  • CBT is an evidence-based treatment designed to target individuals’ unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving with the goal of improving their relationship with emotions. We use CBT to treat clients who struggle with depression, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, phobias, disordered eating, and OCD, and will often integrate elements of DBT, RO DBT, and exposure therapy into our CBT work, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs. Our goal with CBT is to work with patients to help them understand that the way a person thinks, feels, and acts are all inter-connected.

  • Exposure therapy is an evidence-based treatment used to help patients approach and tolerate the emotions that they may be avoiding. We use exposure therapy in the treatment of panic disorder, specific phobias, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. In our practice, we use in vivo, imaginal, thought, and interoceptive exposures, often integrating CBT, DBT, and RO DBT techniques to support patients in becoming more confident, feeling a sense of self-efficacy, and having an increased ability to process emotions.

  • Family Therapy is designed to strengthen family bonds, improve communication, and resolve conflict. We use family therapy to support families experiencing high interpersonal conflict, life transitions, trauma, or the impact of chronic medical, psychiatric, or substance-related challenges. Our goal in family therapy is to create a space where every member feels heard, understood, and supported, while working toward healthier patterns of interaction. Family therapy focuses on:

    • Building effective communication skills and conflict resolution strategies

    • Rebuilding trust and repairing strained relationships

    • Navigating life stressors and transitions as a family system

    • Addressing intergenerational or cultural challenges with openness and respect

  • Couples Therapy is designed to help partners strengthen their connection, improve communication, and repair relational ruptures when they occur. We use couples therapy with partners who are experiencing challenges such as conflict, disconnection, life transitions, or breaches of trust, as well as with those who simply want to deepen intimacy and strengthen their bond. Our goal in couples therapy is to help partners cultivate healthier, more fulfilling relationships by focusing on:

    • Developing effective communication skills that foster mutual understanding

    • Rebuilding trust and healing after relational ruptures

    • Increasing emotional closeness and connection

    • Navigating significant stressors and life changes as a team
